#6 Focus Week: My Journey

In the month-ending May and month-beginning June, Natalia was featured on Focus Week Malaysia.

Once again, I got to share about my journey thus far. It has been a grind but I must say, I am enjoying every aspect of this journey so far (yes, including the bad stuff!). After all, what’s life without a challenge, right?” – Natalia Ng

I always believed that it’s the hard times that makes us feel truly alive… the quote that comes to mind on this comes from the song Iris by Goo Goo Dolls“yeah, you bleed just to know you’re alive”.

It’s true that things haven’t been easy and although I’m seeing a hint of a light at the end of the tunnel, it sure feels like an extremely long tunnel. But I know this for sure… if success were handed to me on a silver platter, I simply will not have the same appreciation for that very success the way I would working hard for it! This very thought happens to be one of the driving forces of motivation for me to continue on this path.

Most of what’s in my Focus Week article are things I’ve said before and will probably continue to believe.” – Natalia Ng

So here Natalia mentions:

I have embarked on a journey of self-discovery throughout my career in this industry without even realizing it! I came to realize my potential in areas I would never have explored before had I not walked this route. It truly is quite impelling!
Also, growing up, I was always thought to focus and master one thing at a time. But as I move on further in life, I realize that the more things you’re better at, the easier it is to tackle life in general. Of course, it is still important to focus! But it’s about setting up objectives and identifying priorities… there’s just so much that really goes into acquiring success!
At this point, I understand that my words carry little if not completely zero weight, simply because I haven’t exactly reached the success I so yearn for. I guess that’s the whole point of me writing all of these before I get there. I hope for these words, these thoughts, these ideologies I’ve compiled to someday find significance especially to those who yearn for success as much as I do.

During my interview, I also mentioned this:

I wrote about this before on how I asked myself what sort of job would make me jump out of bed every morning. And until today, I will ask anyone who feels lost and who are still looking for some answers. It’s a great question to ask yourself and I hope you have and found the answer!
Yes, this industry is a great platform to explore my artistic side. Everyone has multi-facets, including myself. I have my girly girl side, my sporty tomboy side, my artsy fartsy side and the list goes on. The great thing about this industry is that I get to explore every side of me! It compels me to become the best person I can be and to produce the best work I can produce! And the goal then, the goal now, and the goal in the future will always be for my work and all that I stand for to make a good difference.

I also talked about the people I met along the way and how they have shaped my journey thus far. Many people played a part in bringing me where I am today and I will never forget it. As a mark of my appreciation, I will do the best I can to ensure their efforts were not wasted on me!” – Natalia Ng

Thank you, Focus Week Malaysia and journalist, Lim Su Lin, for the write-up of Natalia’s journey so far.
